Is there a way to record the 3D viewer into a movie file that can be played by something like windows media player?

CAMSTASIA Studio!!!!!

Free Demo good for one month. It does a screen capture of the animation playback as an .avi file which can be put on disk, internet, etc...

Works great and looks as good as the actually animation with sound.

BSR Screen Recorder 5. Once you figure out how to set up the video and audio...it's great!!!

iShowU from shinewhitebox if you use mac. Not free though, but not expensive either ($30)
