General Tab

New Drill Wizard General
  • File Location: This is where the drill file will be located when saved. You can change this by clicking the CHANGE button and then selecting where you would like to save your drill file.
  • Choose a file name and drill title. File Name is what it is saved as on your device and Drill Title is what is displayed on your printed documents.
  • Drill Counts: This is where you will indicate how many counts are in your drill file. We suggest each file is one tune. You can add/remove counts later in your process.
  • Audio File: click BROWSE to locate your audio file for this drill. Suggested audio file type is OGG. We suggest using Audacity to easily convert and export your audio file.
  • Production Sheet: if you have a production sheet created in excel or from a different drill you can import it here by clicking on BROWSE.
  • This drill file is: select the appropriate option for your drill file. If it is a new drill file a new drill will open with no performers. If it is a continuation drill the drill file will open with the performers in the dots for the selection made.

Staging tab:

New Drill Wizard Staging
  • Template: Choose a starting point for your drill file.
  • Grid Layout: Select the coordinate grid that will display on your field.
  • Venue: Define the stadium or performance space you are working in
  • Ground: Customize field markings such as yard lines,hashes, or custom guides.
  • Surface: Specify the type of performance surface (e.g., turf, gym floor, parade street).

Casting Tab:

  • Build Cast List By: Options allow you to create and customize individual performers or groups (e.g., sections, instruments, or roles). Customization adjusts performer attributes such as name, label pfx, color, height, body type, equipment and subgrouping.
  • Staging Location: After customization, assign a starting location on the field—this determines where performers populate in your drill file. Options are stage center, offstage front and backstage.
  • Skipping Customization: If you skip this step, your new drill file will open without performers, leaving the designer to add them manually.
  • Import: Import a pre-made Excel cast list instead of building one in the file wizard. The template for this can be found at: Documents → Pyware 3D → Cast Lists.
