Re: How to write a hold instead of a mark time?
So under the facings, the top half is facing in one particular direction. Did I think this out correctly? To get the lower half to match the upper half again, you will have to go under Facings in the visual editor and have them follow the direction of the movement once again. However, under ordinary...

Re: How to write a hold instead of a mark time?
Holds are done under the Visuals Editor. You'll highlight them, click the red flag for the Visual Editor, Click Visuals, and then adjust the hold style there.
For the second half, I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. Can you elaborate?

This is why I ALWAYS make a page tab at Count 0. Solves a whole lot of problems.

Re: Assigning single grid symbol for multiple 3D instruments
What you can do is on the first set, give them the instrument letter. This forces Real View to swap from a default marcher to the instrument you chose. After you've done this, you can turn them into an X or % or whatever you're using using the label tool. Once they're switched, they do not switch to...

Depending on when you purchased, you might be able to upgrade for free. Check with Dustin about it.
Either that or have the drill writer save as V8. I'd gladly do that for you if they didn't and generate .3da files for the Pyware mobile drill viewer.

Re: Marking Time for specific performers
Pretty much what Dustin said. If you don't move them at all, they mark time. If you want them to freeze and do absolutely nothing (not even mark time), then you will highlight the non-movers and click on the red flag icon (the visuals editor). Click "hold style" and then select how you want them to ...

EDIT: Thanks Dustin. It will save from all three versions as a .3da.
You also can always ask someone to convert the file for mobile for you. I know a lot of us will do it for nothing because it's takes almost no time and we like to see what others are doing.

Re: Upgrading Computer - Most Important Specs
I'll state this bluntly--you need to think of this as a gamer. Processor--Greater clock speed. More cores are fine, but gaming relies on the actual clock speed more than anything else. The bigwigs at Aspyr put it this way: 1 GHz is 1 GHz regardless of processor architecture. RAM--Yes. More is better...

Re: staggered step offs
What you are looking for is traditionally called a Step Two Drill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZRFdbiQAS4&list=PL8kvzZobTrjnBWpOHYHIrrlgbQZTCaAqg&index=29 To echo Dustin and to add my own flair to this, you are insane if you attempt to do this massively without the Traditional Tools plugin pack...

GENERAL MAC FAQ
Rather than make a new post, I thought it'd be easier to keep things consolidated in one post. Mr. Green is still your friend, introducing each question. I have a PowerPC Mac and need to know what version of Pyware can run on it. So do I! I actually have several of them. There are lots of ...

HOW TO: Screen Record using FRAPS for Windows I literally slapped myself when I found out how ridiculously easy it is to work in FRAPS with Pyware. I honestly even like using FRAPS more than using QuickTime to record now. It's quite easy to use and produces great recordings. YOU WILL NEED: 1. FRAPS,...

HOW TO: Screen Record Using QuickTime X for Mac
As an FYI, other screen capturing applications will work similarly enough that you can use this HOW TO with the one you prefer. However, since I prefer QuickTime to record, I will be using that in this document. YOU WILL NEED: 1. Pyware, open and running with your drill called up (or whatever charti...

FAQ: Windows 10 and Pyware
Just like the Mac FAQ, look for Mr. Green  before each question. What is Windows 10? Windows 10 is the newest operating system from Microsoft and it's pretty amazing. This is coming from a Mac guy also--Windows 10 is pretty nice! What are the system requirements for Win ...

FAQ: Mac OS 10.11 El Capitan and Pyware
Look for Mr. Green  to introduce each question that will inevitably come up. What is Mac OS 10.11 El Capitan? 10.11 is the newest version of the Mac OS. While it might look the same as prior versions of the Mac OS, there are lots of under the hood improvements. See https://itunes....

Re: Windows 10 problems
I've had no problems but mine was a fresh install of Win 10 and of Pyware. However, I had an infinite number of issues trying to install Version 6 on it. So if it's 6 or below, it's likely not going to work.

Re: Squirrel Cage
The traditional tools can do a counter march. This would consist of 2 flanking turns. For example the squirrel cage video example Route code is lf1,lf10,lf1,lf. This will have the performers march to the action line and then flank left 1 step then flank left again and take 10 steps, then flank 1 ta...

Re: Squirrel Cage
Oh god, squirrel cages. Know that you're not alone in the frustration of charting this. Unfortunately, the Traditional Tool doesn't have a Countermarch command, so when charting this, I have to stop the drill so that the opposing countermarch can happen. Since I am a packrat, I left a sample Squirre...

Re: Obliques Question
Hello! This is what I've found to work fairly well when doing an oblique drill from block. 1. Regroup by file in groups of four using the knife and glue tools. 2. Each squad will then do the countermarch to oblique. This won't present the problem you're talking about, because the first squad has com...
