I was just about to post this as a problem when I discovered the solution.
Sometimes, though not always, I have trouble in "Follow the Leader" when I want the other end of the form to be the leader. Clicking on the dot doesn't work, nor does regrouping, nor does deleting the transition for those players and starting over. Tonight, I think I found the answer: save, quit, then reopen the drill. Once I did that, the program let me switch the leader to the other end of the form no problem.
Not sure if anyone else has encountered this problem or found their own solution, but it will save me some time if it continues to work.
