1. History of crossword

Despite its popularity, this game has quite short the history. The first crossword appeared in England in the 19th century. It’s a derivation of word square – a children’s puzzle game. However, the United State is where it became an adult game.
In 1913, crossword was printed in Sunday Newspaper and the author was journalist Arthur Wynne. These words were arranged in diamond shaped and there was no internal black space. Gradually, this game appeared in almost American newspapers and turned into a serious adult game that helped people improve their logical thinking and kill time. Afterward, people modified the shape of the crossword to fit their purpose and to make this game look more attractive.
