Cutting and Gluing performers

This is getting very frustrating and time consuming.
Sometime after cutting and gluing in to a new order, it picks up random performer not even close to the performers I'm working with.
But today, coming out of circles, I need to create a leader for a follow the leader. I cut where I want the leader to come from. As soon as I click on the glue button to glue the old unglued. It re-glues what I just cut. I've tried cutting all and re-gluing, but every time the same thing happens. I've even tried dong all this on other forms on this page but get the same problem. I've also closed Pyware a few times. That didn't work either.
Ideas????
