pace problem

I can't seem to get the pace feature to work. I want to change the pace to a custom pace (3 steps to 1 beat) but it will not do it. It only puts a red dot in the arrival location for each dot while showing the animated dots moving toward them. I am using the pace tool in the visuals editor.

The custom pace will only show in the Real View.
