I select the section of drill I wish to FTL. When I click the FTL tool, it automatically performs a FTL move that traces the path that my performers are "standing on". It will not let me change leaders or do the FTL myself. I have cut ad re-glued several times, That is not working. Thanks.

Accept the incorrect FTL then select the form and go to Edit> Delete> Delete Transition. Then you can select the performers and create the FTL properly.
