Is version 7 of Pyware compatible with the new operating system destined for release later this month from Apple?

Currently Version 6 and 7 run on the Developer Release of Mountain Lion.
So unless that changes then yes it should work on Mountain Lion.

We cannot fully support it until it is tested on the Release copy of Mountain Lion.

I'm running the regular version of 10.8 on Pyware Java 3D version 7.

My MacBook Pro is running very HOT. I don't remember my computer running this hot with v5.

This is because the software uses your graphics card as well and depending on what graphics card you have installed it may have to work harder to produce the new Real View.

Sadly Laptops do not have as an efficient way of dispursing heat from the the graphics card as destops to so you will see a heat increase of the laptop while running 3D.

First I would ensure that you are using the high end graphics card if you have multiple cards installed. This can be done under the Energy Options in System Preferences. Choose Better graphics or uncheck the option for graphics switching and restart the 3D software.

If you do not have these options or it still runs to hot for your comfort you can reduce the demand on the graphics card by reducing the capabilities of the Real View in the Application Options under the display tab.

Are versions 6 & 7 the only versions compatible with Mountain Lion? Or are they the only tested versions?

Version 6 & 7 are the only versions we are currently supporting on Mountain Lion.
