Shortcut Editor short-term memory

Post by jeffwhite » Wed Jun 17, 2009 7:10 am

I've used the shortcut editor to save several keyboard shortcuts that I frequently use. I've saved all under a personalized set (not default), yet there are a few that are magically forgotten after closing the program. The most important to me include "Edit:Delete", "Display:Next Page Tab" and "Display:Previous Page Tab."

Some that I set are retained between program runs, but not all. I was told this glitch was fixed for version 5. Any thoughts?

I'm running:

Pyware Interactive v. 5.0.2
Max OS X 10.5.7
Java Version 1.5.0_16

Thanks, that helps. Still doesn't remember the next and previous page tab shortcuts unless I pick the "right" shortcuts. For instance, I previously used Command + ' (apostrophe) and Command + ; (semicolon) for these shortcuts. However with this update, those keys aren't available so I tried Command + = (equals) and Command + - (hyphen) respectively. Once again these shortcuts work while I still have the application open, but if I close it and restart they are forgotten.

However, I noticed the default shortcuts for these commands are Function + uparrow and Function + downarrow (that's what I found in the "Default (Mac)" shortcuts). On my machine that's displayed as a double-strikethrough up and down arrow respectively. When I made that a part of my personalized set, it remembers it.

So, problem solved well enough for now. I'd ultimately like to be able to choose a shortcut for these commands that only requires one hand on the keyboard (function and arrow keys are far apart on my MacBook). But this is an improvement I'll take! Plus it looks like several other quirks were fixed with this update and that's awesome!

Liking v5 so far and am happy with the update. Can't wait to start using it on a larger monitor.

The default key presses for next and previous page are Page UP and Page Dwn. On my mac keyboard here they are only a 1 keypress function. I assume you are using it on a smaller laptop or smaller keyboard that does not have all keys available to you. I will see what I can do about the other keys you were using.

That makes more sense. When I finally upgrade to a full-size keyboard I'm sure it won't be an issue.

I am able to save my page up and page Dwn as the shortcuts for next and previous sets. I will be uploading the update to version 5.0.7 on Monday if you can download and install that please see if that remedies the issue.

I am having the same problem for saving shortcuts. They are forgotten every time I open Shortcut Editor. I am using:
Mac OS X 10.5.7
Pyware Interactive 4.2.12
Java 1.5.0_19

From the Shortcut Set I am able to create new sets that have removed shortcuts (i.e. Backup, Adjust To), but they do not retain any customized shortcuts. I am able to open the Shortcut Editor, assign shortcuts, and then use them in the program. However, I must reassign these every time I restart the program or open the Shortcut Editor. I do not plan to upgrade to version 5 this year so I'm hoping someone can help me out.

I am trying to assign the following:

Page up= Next Page Tab
Page Down = Previous Page Tab
Home = First Count
End = Last Count

I use a game pad for my shortcuts and have created a new shortcut page and these are the only ones that I have to manually go in and change every time I open the program.

Dustin,

The problem still happens. I drag the file you sent to the folder, and it works while the program is open. If I save and close the program, I have to do the whole process over again.

There seems to be a problem when you adjust the Home, End, Page Up, Page Dwn and save the file. If you are going to edit the shortcuts more then you will need to correct the file again. Open the shortcut text document and locate the following:

Display:Last Count=HOMHOME
Display:First Count=ENEND
Display:Previous Page Tab=PAGE_UPAGE_UP
Display:Next Page Tab=PAGE_DOWPAGE_DOWN

Then correct them to read:

Display:Last Count=HOME
Display:First Count=END
Display:Previous Page Tab=PAGE_UP
Display:Next Page Tab=PAGE_DOWN

I have submitted this as an issue.
