I am trying to get Pyware 7 to install onto a Windows 8 machine. I am being wet with a Java error after Install Anywhere runs.

The Error message is as follows

The Details read

We have a preliminary installer for installing natively on Windows 8. I will email you download instructions.

Please confirm that this installer works for you.

I was having the same issue with Win8 64, then I changed the compatibility to Win7 and that specific Java error ceased, but now when I double-click on the installation, after the extractor the little Pyware marching dude shows up with a progress bar at the bottom then the installation stops. Nothing else happens after that. :-(

I notice on the Task Manager that the "Java Platform Binary" opens then closes during the same time as the Pyware marching dude sticks around (Is there a specific name for him, like Guido or something? If not, I say let's call him Hutter).

Anybody else having the same problems getting Pyware installed on Windows 8?

Thanks for any replies y'all have!

Please download a new installer from http://www.pyware.com/updates.html.

Version 7 is currently the only version compatible natively with Windows 8.

Thanks, Dustin!

I figured out the real problem - I had not yet installed the 64-bit Java platform yet. Had 32-bit already (for Firefox).

I am having the same issues as the first post. The installer will not work either. Please advise...

Error message with installer:

Installer UI Mode Error

Installer User Interface Mode Not Supported

The installer cannot run in this UI Mode. To specify the interface mode, use the -i command-line option, follow by the UI Mode identifier. The valid UI modes identifiers are GUI, Console, and Silent.

Error Message when trying to install the software:

Evening:

I have been having a time of it getting Pyware to install on a new computer. Actually, the new cpu was re-furbished but "new" to me.

Anyway, I have also recently upgraded to Windows 8, which I am not yet a big fan of. I think it would be great if I had a touch screen. I don't. That is the issue. At this point, I will not yet need to upgrade to the new version 7 of Pyware but I will in the future. Am I better off reverting back to Windows 7? Will version 4.1.2 (which most likely has a free upgrade) still run on Windows 7? I have read through the previous posts requesting that a new installer be downloaded. Is this a possible solution?

Once I figure out which version of Windows is the least "buggy", I can figure out how to re-install the Pyware software (without losing the drill files I already have) and move on like nothing happened. :)

Take care -
Wayland

The best option would be to roll back to Windows 7 and download the version 4.3.8 from our updates page. http://www.pyware.com/updates.html

I have v.6 and am having the same error message while attempting to install on Windows 8.1. Any way around this? Thank you!

For version 6, I would suggest downloading the current installer from http://www.pyware.com/updates.html#six. Save the file to your computer, then right click on the installer and choose troubleshoot compatibility. Then choose to try the recommended settings.

Try right-clicking on the installer and choose "troubleshoot and compatibility", then let Windows install using their recommended settings. I can't guarantee v6 will run properly on Windows 8, but using this method to install would be your best bet.
