I am currently using edition 4.2. My school purchased stock drill from MSC and I would like to change the existing symbols in the drill to fit our band. However, when I select a line of performers and click on the performer labeling control panel, I do not get the option to control symbols and can only change the labels.
Is there a way to change symbols after performers are already entered into the drill?

It sounds like you are on a Mac and experiencing and issue caused by an OS update. Please download and install the version 4.2.12 and then open the Label palette again. Updates page http://www.pyware.com/updates.html
