Pyware 3DX Beta

Version 1.0.9 Beta 6

Build 6 Updated: 10/21/2026

Items To Test

  • Clinics – run the Continuity, Stride and Collision Clinics over a full show. Check that each problem marker lands on the right performer and count, and that a true continuity break is reported differently from a merely large stride.
  • Multi-display – run with two or more monitors, ideally at different resolutions and scaling. Move the main window between them and check that menu bars, ribbons and the per-display look toggles follow the right display.
  • Multi-display – drag inspectors, the tool palette and dialogs onto another monitor, open the Production Sheet on each monitor, and check that the tool ribbon appears on every View. Also try two Views stacked on one monitor.
  • Multi-display – on each display, toggle labels, annotations, measurements and the grid, and confirm that only that display changes. Handles and labels should stay readable on every display.
  • Long session – edit for 20 to 30 minutes with the inspector and ribbon in use. The app should not slow down over time.
  • Mac – deny the app access to Desktop or Documents in System Settings > Privacy & Security, then launch it. It should ask for access instead of crashing.
  • Count track – Ctrl+click the count track to restore its default zoom, and check the direction indicator after zooming.
  • Save speed – save a large drill and compare it against 1.0.8, then reopen the file and confirm nothing is lost.
  • Selection speed – box-select and step-back on a large-count drill should no longer stall.
  • Comma-decimal locales – if your system uses a comma as the decimal separator, save and reopen drills and check your settings survive. This release fixes file damage in that case.
  • Copy and paste – paste, merge and insert ranges of counts and check that spacing, later changes and end continuity are kept, and that Paste Options offers the choice you picked.
  • Production Sheet – edit rows, step back with a tool, and confirm your edits are still there.
  • Tutorials – Help > Tutorials: run a few of the 44 lessons in any group. Tell us if a step does not advance when you do it or a bubble points at the wrong place, and try another language.
  • ISO camera windows – Set Reference > Camera on up to 4 performers, then play the drill: check the windows follow their performers, close with their X, and that playback stays smooth on a large drill.
  • Saving – edit, Undo and Redo, add Set Reference marks, then open another drill and come back: everything you did should still be there.
  • Transfer Performers – Utilities > Transfer Performers: move performers between drills and check positions, visuals and equipment on the new drill.
  • Stride Clinic – set a smaller backward stride in Stride Options, tap a footprint for its details, and open a drill with performers missing a height. Strides now show in your Path Size Format setting.
  • Crossing counts – Print Coordinates and Print Drill Book: turn on crossing counts and check the counts printed for your moves.
  • Count track – drag visual and camera bars to move them, drag a bar’s end to change its length. Also try the new rows above the page tabs and the diamond anchors.
  • Props – the Drum Corps Inspired category and the props fixed in this build (after the content download on first launch).
  • First launch – the content download prompt: Download, Later, and what happens with no internet connection.
  • Dialogs – with a message or dialog open over a panel, Enter and Escape close the top window first.
  • Opening older drills – if a drill has a page tab after its last count, 3DX adds hold counts when it opens so the tab sits inside the drill; tell us if anything looks shifted.
  • Paste – copy a range and paste with the new panel: watch the live preview, change Paste to, Fit and continuity, try Insert, Cancel, Save as Default and Factory Settings, then Undo.
  • Paste visuals – paste a range that has visuals onto a selection with Overwrite and Merge, and try Extra Performers.
  • Visual Sequencer – in the Paste panel, ripple a visual across performers and start a visual between counts; save, reopen and play it.
  • Saving and opening – open and save a few of your real show files (large ones too, and one with audio) and tell us if anything is missing or slow. Beta 6 uses a new built-in file compressor.
  • Collision and Continuity Clinics – run both on a drill you know: tap markers for details, try Moving performers only, and Straighten and Reconnect on a selection.
  • Holds – reroute or rebuild paths in a drill with holds and check that the holds stay.
  • Equipment moves – flag tosses, spins and horn moves: the equipment should move with the performer.
  • Surface – open an outdoor drill, then an indoor one, then back: each should show its own surface.
  • Undo and Redo – Undo, then Hide or Lock All: Redo should grey out.
  • Scrolling – scroll lists in several dialogs: same speed, and they open at the top.
  • Recording HUD – record a short clip full screen and in a smaller window: text and logo should fit.
  • Editions – check that the tool palette and menus show what your edition includes.
  • Old sketch books – open a v10 sketch book and save it; the “save in 11.3.5” message should not come back.
  • Mac – open a few drills (our samples and your own) in the Beta 6 Mac app.
  • New items listed in the Beta Build below

Known Issues

  • ISO camera windows: each window draws the field again, so playback can slow on large drills with several windows open. Close windows you are not using.
  • Some labels still show in English in other languages. A translation pass is under way.
  • Production Sheet: clicking inside a cell puts the cursor at the end of the text instead of where you clicked.
  • Flex tool: with Fixed Spacing on, the shape handles do not show.
  • Props: Circular Frame Horizontal and Floor Ribbon have no model yet.
  • Mac with more than one display: some window behaviors (window level, dragging between displays) are still being tested; please report anything unusual.
  • Hyperlinks (Edit > Hyperlink): add web page, video and audio links to a count; the launch button in the Hyperlink Editor panel opens them in your browser. Edits to an existing link may not be kept – delete and add it again.
  • Continuity Clinic: results can differ from Beta 5 because breaks are now judged against each performer’s own moves. Please tell us about breaks it misses or flags wrongly.

New

  • Tutorials for every tool: 44 lessons in five groups (Selection, Drawing, Editing, Annotation, Appearance and Camera) under Help > Tutorials. Lessons you cannot use in your edition are hidden, each group shows how many lessons it holds, and a lesson closes the panels it opened when it ends
  • One Paste panel: Paste now opens a single panel with a live preview in the drill, Paste to, Fit, continuity before and after, page tabs and sketches, plus Save as Default and Factory Settings. The separate Advanced Paste dialog is gone
  • Paste carries visuals: they land on the matched performers with Overwrite or Merge, and Extra Performers (Repeat First or Cycle) copy one performer’s visuals onto a selection
  • Visual Sequencer: ripple a visual across performers in shape order (step off, one after another, pairs, every other), and visuals can start between counts (down to 1/8 count)
  • Collision Clinic: finds collisions that happen between counts, shows one marker for a run of counts, shades markers by how close the pair came, lets you tap a collision for the names, count and distance, and has a Moving performers only option (on by default)
  • Continuity Clinic: breaks are judged against the performer’s own nearby moves, markers are shaded by how far over the limit, tap a marker for details, and Straighten and Reconnect fix only the selected flagged performers
  • Stride Clinic: strides and limits follow your Path Size Format setting (steps to 5, step size, or length), and Stride Options has a filter section
  • Count track: rows open above the ruler and page tabs, which no longer move; anchors show as red, yellow and gray diamonds; the direction arrow sits on a dark plate
  • A drill opens with the default selection tool when no tool is active

Improved

  • Every scroll list scrolls at the same speed and opens at the top
  • Recording HUD fits any screen shape, with notes and logo kept at the edges
  • Clinic detail bubbles close when you tap the field and follow their footprint or marker as you move it
  • Edit handles no longer cast shadows and stay out of ISO camera windows
  • Recent lists in the Sketch Book and Grid Layout browsers carry over when you change language
  • Tutor lessons point only at controls you can see and bring panels back to the Main Window
  • Drill files are saved and opened with a new built-in file compressor; please test your show files
  • Default shortcuts now list the clinics, Print Cast List, Print Production Sheet, Drill Templates, Paste as Sketch, Camera Cinematic and Text Template Editor, and the tool palette adds Set Reference and Camera Cinematic
  • Translations: hundreds more labels, messages and tooltips translated across all 12 languages, labels that showed English now translated, hint text on controls that showed their neighbour’s fixed, and Spanish uses “Contramarcha” throughout

Fixes

  • Equipment moves (flag tosses, spins) animate with the performer instead of staying still
  • Holds are kept when continuities and paths are rebuilt
  • Crab walk stride ranges and direction corrected
  • A drill with no surface no longer shows the previous drill’s surface; an indoor venue shows the black tarp
  • The selection tool keeps working after any file open
  • Redo is cleared correctly after Hide / Show All, Lock / Unlock All and Remove ISO
  • The count track shows starting visuals at count 0 for selected performers with nothing assigned
  • Count track auto-hide stays up over the on-stage marker, anchors and status bar, and during a drag
  • Matching spots no longer show the collision icon
  • Clinics: Close, Escape, the back button or closing a file now fully closes a clinic, so the menu item always reopens it; the Continuity Clinic no longer errors after its window closes; Show/Hide off hides performer triangles while you drag a marker
  • A legacy (v10) sketch book reopened at start is saved in the current format, so the “save in 11.3.5” message stops repeating
  • Edition access: the status bar shows in every edition, Traditional Essential gets everything Essential has, Parade Gate is Platinum and Traditional Essential, and the menu no longer re-shows items your edition does not include
  • Glue, Block, Morph, Tool History and Traditional no longer stop with an error in rare cases
  • Traditional Tool, Counter March and Parade Gate panel titles read correctly; the tool panel Okay / Cancel row no longer shows twice
  • Translations: Japanese lesson titles no longer blank; Spanish and French Recording HUD title no longer cut off; the Shift drag hint wraps naturally; “Home” no longer translated as “home page” in French and German; Spanish clinic and ribbon labels shrink to fit
  • Drawing tool lessons: 11 hands-on lessons (Line, Matching, Custom Matching, Curve, Pencil, Arc, Spiral, Bezier, Points, Block, Add a Shape) under Help > Tutorials > Drawing Tools, in all 12 languages; lesson steps advance as you work
  • ISO camera windows: mark up to 4 performers with Camera in the Set Reference tool to follow them in picture-in-picture windows
  • Stride Clinic: optional smaller maximum stride for backward marching, set as a percent of forward in Stride Options
  • Stride Clinic: graph bars shaded by how far over the limit; tap a footprint to see the performer, counts, stride and limit
  • Stride Clinic: warns when performers have no cast height and offers the Cast List Editor
  • Crossing counts: the performer coordinate sheet and Drill Book table show the count in each move where a performer crosses a grid line; long lists shrink to fit
  • Count track: drag visual and camera items to move them, drag the bar end to resize
  • Print Coordinates: Save Defaults keeps settings such as Print Crossing Counts
  • Props: drum corps props grouped under Drum Corps Inspired; Mini Stage and eight 2026 props (Troopers, Phantom Regiment, Bluecoats planks) load again; Blue Devils Prop 6 shows its own model; Bowler Hat thumbnail fixed
  • Saving: Set Reference and ISO camera marks, Undo and Redo are kept by Auto Save and when you open another drill; closing an ISO window outside Set Reference is saved
  • Open File: one damaged drill file no longer hides the rest of its folder; New Drill leaves no partial file behind; answering No to a portal download leaves the list usable; long paths stay on one line
  • Save As and Save a Copy As open on the drill’s own folder
  • Startup asks before downloading required content and waits at Try Again if it cannot load
  • Enter and Escape close only the topmost window: a dialog or message over a panel closes first
  • Select All works right after opening a drill
  • Zoom to Action fits the whole selection in 2D and 3D, clear of the bars, panels and tool palette
  • Pick Equipment and Pick Uniform previews load in about 3 seconds instead of 10-17
  • Equipment: a new model no longer shows the previous model’s fabric, and Reset restores the model’s own texture
  • Cut Options, Paste Options and Visual Reset: Save as Defaults remembers your choices; Visual Reset’s Walk Style checkbox works
  • Paste Resize To Fit stretches by the right amount
  • Opening a drill no longer leaves the previous drill’s ISO camera windows and reference rings on screen
  • Opening a second sketch book while thumbnails build no longer hangs on “Loading page X of Y”
  • Clinics: Next / Prev work with nothing selected; Stride Options Factory Reset restores Min/Max; the Stride marker past the last page tab no longer errors; a clinic’s menu item no longer opens a second copy; label, icon and review fixes
  • Edit > Splice shows its own ribbon again; Flex tool removes its options panel and markers when you leave it
  • Traditional Move: a route added with + can be edited with the Route Editor pencil
  • Follow the Leader: the leader triangle takes a tap
  • Appearance button closes the panel while it shows a prop
  • Grid Designer: the Step Grid value box applies typed values
  • Select > Tool Selection History opens and closes the Tool History panel
  • Record Video HUD text is readable on every surface until a colour is picked
  • UDB: drills with a page tab past the last count no longer crash the UDB app on performer tap
  • Ending a tutor lesson no longer switches the field to the football surface
  • Opening an inspector no longer stalls
  • Translations: newly added messages no longer show as raw keys; Japanese hints show title and description; the Line tool panel title follows a language switch; Shift dialog “Count Range:” label; menu, dialog and six untranslated labels fixed
  • Copy and paste: Paste keeps the visual count spacing, Merge keeps later changes, and Insert copies the whole range with correct end continuity
  • Paste Options: no longer shows the opposite Overwrite/Merge choice from the one selected
  • Production Sheet: edits are no longer lost after a tool step-back
  • Stride Clinic: compares strides using your Units setting, uses cast heights, shows centimeters in Meters mode, and defaults to a 5’8″ performer
  • Multi-display: dialogs on a View no longer draw twice or upside down
  • Multi-display (Mac): View windows no longer stay above other applications
  • Count track: auto-hide stays open while the pointer is over the track’s side buttons
  • Visual Reset: Reset is now available when only the Walk Style has changed
  • Multi-display: inspectors, the tool palette and movable dialogs can be dragged onto any monitor, and the Production Sheet can open on each monitor
  • Multi-display: the tool ribbon now appears on every View
  • Multi-display: handles and labels keep their contrast against each display’s own background
  • Multi-display: labels, annotations, presets, measurements and the grid fade follow each display’s own visibility settings
  • Multi-display: per-display UI scale, with a prompt to fit the UI when a View’s screen is too small, and the HUD inset from the screen edges
  • Multi-display: fixes for Views stacked on the same monitor
  • Memory leaks fixed in the tool ribbon and in handle materials, which caused the app to slow down after some minutes of editing
  • Mac: the app now asks for access to Desktop and Documents, and no longer crashes when that access is blocked
  • Count track: Ctrl+click restores the default zoom, and the direction indicator updates after zooming
  • Sequencer widget: no longer errors when used before it has finished starting
  • New animations: HBCU high-step strides (10, 12, 14 and 16 to 5, left and right) and baritone horn circles (clockwise and counter-clockwise)
  • Japanese Stadium venue: podiums removed
  • New Continuity Clinic – finds continuity breaks, and now tells a true break apart from a merely large stride
  • New Stride Clinic – finds over-strides, and updates live while animating
  • New Collision Clinic – finds performers who collide or pass too close
  • New problem-marker handles and icons on the field for the clinics
  • Multi-display: the app now opens on the monitor you launched it from
  • Multi-display: each display has its own menu bar and ribbon routing
  • Multi-display: every look and visibility toggle is now per display instead of global
  • Multi-display: per-display UI scaling, plus a per-monitor resolution row in the Displays settings
  • Saving is much faster – the file write and zip now run on a worker thread
  • Selection and step-back no longer deep-copy an unchanged drill, which removes the stall on large drills
  • Opening a drill no longer marks it dirty or schedules an autosave
  • Numbers in drill and settings files are now written culture-invariantly – if you use a comma as your decimal separator, please re-test saving and reopening files
