KJOS IPS COPPA POLICY
IPS software complies with all applicable provisions of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) (15 USC 6501 et seq.) To the extent COPPA applies to information we collect, we collect no COPPA defined Personal Information. What Personal information does the Application obtain and how is it used?
User Provided Information
The Application collects NO COPPA specified personal information. The app only obtains the users first initial, last name, and a teacher/guardian email for the sole purpose of generating a unique access label for a user’s automatically collected information while not obtaining information with enough detail to identify and/or reach the user.
Automatically Collected Information
The application collects only information NOT SPECIFIED as Personal Information by COPPA. That information is collected solely to be used by the user’s secondary devices. The information contains non-identifiable data such as IPS books in use, bookmarks, annotations considered inconsequential. This data is used only for education purposes and not for commercial use. This non-identifiable information is automatically purged after use.
Does the Application use the microphone to record audio?
This Application uses the microphone of the device to record audio when a lesson is chosen to be recorded. Recordings are ONLY STORED LOCALLY on the user’s device. The user can choose to share that with another application on their device.
Does the Application collect precise real time location information of the device?
This Application does not collect precise information about the location of your device.
What are my opt-out rights?
You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling the Application. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your device or via the application marketplace or network.
Although there is no COPPA defined Personal Information collected, we will delete the non-identifiable information per the parents request to email@example.com.
Data Retention Policy, Managing Your Information
There is NO COPPA specified personal information retained.
We do not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with information without their consent, he or she can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will delete such information from our files within a reasonable time.
We are concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. We provide physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect any information. All data is stored on a secured server using a firewall with strict protocols and all data in motion is served securely with TLS encryption. Since there is no identifiable information collected, should there be a breach in security, the data that is collected will be deleted without notice.
