Our team at Pygraphics have been fortunate to work next door to such a stellar program for over 20 years and have been consistently impressed at the success the Argyle Eagles have achieved for our town throughout that time.

After our longtime friend Director Kathy Johnson retired in 2018, Argyle ISD welcomed a new Director of Bands — Jason Bird.

“Argyle has been a wonderful and welcoming community for my family,” Jason said. “I am astonished by the support for the students from parents, community members, administration, and organizations throughout Argyle and I feel blessed to be a part of it.”

Jason moved from Richland High School where he successfully led the marching ensemble to BOA Regional finals, UIL State Marching Contests and Super Regional events regularly throughout his tenure. Following his transitional year, Jason carefully guided Argyle through a truly unprecedented season. He was able to respect and adhere to all Covid-19 safety protocol while navigating the student-athletes through the marching season and ultimately, a State Championship.

“It was a difficult road for everyone to say the least; we’ve never experienced a season like this. We had to be innovated to accommodate distancing and sanitizing, from fitting our uniforms to feeding the kids on game days — it was all different,” Jason said.

He continued, “The only consistent approach from the past year was the standard we held ourselves to.”

Argyle executed the best performance at the 4A UIL Area B competition before advancing to the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas to capture the State Championship over 20 competing bands.

The designer behind Argyle’s winning drill was Andrew Ebert.

Director Bird and Argyle’s band program hired Andrew Ebert to join their team and serve as the Eagle’s drill writer. Andrew’s experience in the marching arts industry includes serving as caption head of Carolina Crown and Canton Education Park Marching Band, as well as drill designer for the Madison Scouts, the Troopers and the Crossmen. He has also designed for BOA Regional, Super Regional, and Grand Nationals Class champions, and most recently State Marching Band Champions, the Argyle Eagles.

Andrew has been utilizing Pyware as his design software for 15 years, consistently investing in upgrades of the software’s development — all the way to our most current version.

“Version 10 is a major upgrade with the new tools and animation; it makes it easy for me to create and much easier for my clients to see what the intent of the production is going to be,” Andrew said.

“The Pyware team is always responsive and forward thinking, making the program very easy to use; it helps me create accessible, engaging and artistic shows for my clients that are teachable and easy to understand,” he continued.

Through a combined effort, Director Bird and Designer Ebert were able to continue Argyle’s tradition of excellence, extending their legacy of success even further.
